The First Of Lasts

Honey Bear Try-Outs

Okay Lex, I'm now beginning to blog about the memories that I have been praying would slow down but the inevitable has happened and we are now preparing for your Senior year in high school!
The first of all the lasts begins with Honey Bear try-outs! You have tried out for lieutenant for your Senior year. We will find out if you made it in a couple of weeks at your Installation Tea. Because you were trying out for lieutenant you were very nervous! You knew the try out dance and made up your own dance to "must be the money" by Nelly. I knew you would throw some hip hop (the love of your life) in your dance, and sure enough...mom was right!! In addition to your dance you had to do a kick series to music and my sweet girl, you let your nerves get the best of you and forgot the series. After standing there smiling for an 8 count you made up your own kick series! Smiling with tears streaming down your face you continued to kick until the music stopped. This is the story you told me as soon as you came out of the gym from trying out. As you were walking in I kissed my fingers and touched your back and said a quick prayer! While you were in the gym I was waiting right outside the door and while I was waiting for the music to start, my mind started going where I begged it not to....the three years before this year at all your previous try-outs! This time was your last and I would never share this experience with you for the Honey Bears again! Once the music started I watched a few of the girls doing your dance you taught them and sending prayers your way hoping your nerves had calmed down. I was wiping my tears away when the music stopped and that's when I saw your tears rolling down your face from freezing on the kick series! My sweet Honey Bear, I know this experience will never be forgotten and we will both cherish these memories of try-outs forever! Nerves are just part of it. No matter if you make lieutenant or not my prayer is that you relax and enjoy dancing your last year with drill team! I know my pretty girl your smile will be shining bright and those toes will be pointed no matter what! That's what Mom always says before any dance...
Smile pretty and point your toes~
